Warranty Terms
Southern Garage Doors (DBA of Southern Garage Doors, Inc.) — Florida Certified Specialty Contractor — License SCC131153700.
Version 2026-09-10.1 · effective September 10, 2026 · first published April 3, 2026.
Introduction
These Warranty Terms are the warranty Southern Garage Doors, Inc. ("Southern Garage Doors," "we," "us") gives on work we perform. They are incorporated into our Terms of Service (Section 16). Our Warranty & Coverage page is a plain-language summary of these terms; if the two ever differ, these Warranty Terms control.
Coverage begins on the date the work is completed and requires no registration. The version of these terms in force on that date governs the job.
1. Scope and Precedence
These terms apply to every service visit, repair and installation performed by Southern Garage Doors. Each line item on your invoice states the warranty that applies to it. If the warranty printed on your invoice for a line item differs from these general terms, the invoice governs that line item. Where the invoice is silent, these terms apply.
Coverage is limited to the precise repair, component or adjustment we performed. A symptom that returns because of a different cause, condition or part is a new service request, not a warranty claim.
2. Service-Call Warranty
Every service visit carries a 14-day service-call warranty from the date of the original service. If the same issue we diagnosed and serviced returns within 14 days, we return at no charge. After 14 days, the standard $195 service call fee applies to any follow-up visit, even when a part or labor is still under its own warranty. A new or unrelated problem is a new service call regardless of timing.
3. Labor Warranty
Our workmanship is warranted for 14 days from the date of the original service. Two kinds of work carry a longer labor warranty:
- Spring replacement: 1 year (365 days) of spring labor.
- New opener installation: 1 year (365 days) of installation labor.
The labor warranty covers workmanship only. After it expires, labor charges apply to any follow-up work.
4. Parts and Hardware
Parts we replace or install carry a 30-day parts warranty from the date of the original service. Covered components include hinges, cables, rollers, brackets, fasteners, bearings and tracks. If a covered part fails within 30 days, we replace it at no parts charge; the service-call and labor terms above decide whether the visit itself is free.
Springs. Springs we install carry a 1-year (365-day) parts and labor warranty. A "broken spring" is a spring that physically fractures or separates under normal operating conditions. If that happens within one year, we replace the spring and the labor to install it at no charge; the service-call fee applies after the first 14 days as described in Section 2.
5. Opener Components and Electronics
Opener components are covered according to their failure risk:
- Hardware (belts, pulleys, gear assemblies): 30-day parts warranty.
- Electrical components (limit switches, encoders, RPM sensors, logic boards, wall buttons, safety eyes): no warranty, because of the risk of power surges, lightning strikes and electrical failure.
- Remotes and keypads: no warranty; they are electronic accessories.
New opener installations carry a 30-day service-call coverage window from the date of installation (any return visit inside 30 days is free) and the 1-year installation labor warranty in Section 3. The opener unit itself carries the manufacturer's warranty; Southern Garage Doors does not warrant the equipment and may assist with the manufacturer's process as a courtesy. After the 30-day window, the standard service call fee applies to diagnose manufacturer-related issues.
6. Customer-Supplied Equipment
When you supply your own opener or parts, we warrant our installation labor for 1 year with a free 30-day callback window. We cannot warrant equipment we did not supply; if a customer-supplied unit fails, the standard service call fee applies for diagnosis and any further work.
7. Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
- normal wear and tear, environmental rust, collision, misuse or storm damage;
- damage from impact, misalignment, external interference or customer modifications;
- damage from abuse, neglect, power surges, lightning or acts of nature;
- failures caused by modification, adjustment or repair of the covered components by anyone other than Southern Garage Doors, to the extent that work caused the failure;
- components modified, tampered with or replaced without our authorization;
- issues unrelated to the original work.
Use of another service provider does not by itself void this warranty. Warranty service may be paused while an invoice for the covered work remains unpaid.
8. Conditions of Coverage
- Report it in time. A claim must be reported within the active warranty period; a claim reported after expiration cannot be honored even if the issue began during coverage.
- Let us look. Southern Garage Doors must be allowed to inspect the issue before a claim is approved.
- No reset. Warranty work does not reset or extend the original warranty period.
- Not transferable. Coverage belongs to the customer on the original invoice and ends when the property is sold or transferred.
- Proof of service. Your original printed or emailed invoice is proof of service. We keep every job on file, so you do not need to save paperwork.
- Someone must be there. An authorized adult point of contact, as described in Section 6 of our Terms of Service, must be present during a warranty visit.
9. How to Make a Claim
Call (941) 356-4334 or use the same online booking you used the first time and tell us it is a warranty concern. We look up the job, confirm coverage, and send a technician. If the issue is covered, there is no charge for covered parts or labor within the applicable window. If it is not, we explain why, show you what we see, and quote a standard published price before any work begins.
10. Records Older Than Three Years
For work completed more than three years ago, text (941) 356-4334 with your name, the property address, your email address and the reason for the inquiry. We respond within five business days.
11. Changes to These Terms
These Warranty Terms carry a version number and an effective date, shown at the top of this page. A change is published as a new version; the previous version stays on file. The version in force on the date your work was completed is the one that governs that job, and we keep that record for every job. Every legal document we publish is listed at /legal/.
